Between the Grand County Search and Rescue (GCSAR), the Arches and Canyonlands National Park Search and Rescue Team, and the Winter Rescue Team, Joe has the opportunity to respond to over 100 calls a year. Joe respond to as many as he can. The Moab area SAR teams are very active, capable and collaborative. Joe also volunteers for search and rescue related operations that are outside of his participation on the Grand County and the National Park SAR teams.
Joe is happy to share what he has learned from his own climbing and adventuring, guiding, experiences working as a backcountry ranger, and experiences on SARs. Below are link to rescue related information (e.g., known hazards, how to decrease the likelihood of having a problem, how to prepare to self-rescue, and what to expect if you do need rescue).
